Brakes On You b/w Bombs Away (reissue)
2-Tough/Blue Door Records (BD7705) – 1984
Doll-Reys reissue of Tracks single with new
Jeff Rey's notes: Cheap reissue of Tracks single as the Doll-Reys so we could squeeze out some more record sales, get our new name out there and fund another recording session. Leather-clad Lorry sporting her new blonde do on front and back covers.
|White Pumps b/w Eyes of Blue
2-Tough Records (T4068)– 1984
Lorry Doll, vocals, guitar, keyboards, synth; Jeff Rey, guitar; Chip English, drums
Notes: Although it's not as innocent as it seems, "White Pumps" is kind of a power-pop, new-wavey tune. It wasn’t really indicative of our sound, but it went over so well at gigs that we had to record it. It got lots of airplay, especially at WNYU and led to the Doll-Reys hosting the bi-monthly NYU night at the old Tramps on East 15th Street.This release and the next had future Lunachick Chip English on drums.
|Red & Green (EP)
Christmas Eve In NYC / Blue Christmas /
Rock ‘N’ Roll for Christmas / Hotter Than Hell
2-Tough Records (T4118) – 1984
Lorry Doll, vocals, guitar, keyboards, synth; Jeff Rey, guitar;
Chip English, drums.
Notes: Another bid to get more airplay at a time before holiday songs became de riguer for rock bands. Plus, we always wanted to do an X-Mas record. Last two songs show a return to the much harder stuff. I think all these songs came out pretty good (especially Lorry's take on "Blue Christmas") and I still play this every season. You should, too.
